Person vs. Person

    Decimus and his best friend Splendora have known each other since they were babies.  But now at age sixteen, Splendora is being sent away to marry a fat and lazy slob named Tertius.  Decimus' heart is broken.  He promises that he will rescue her before the wedding.  But while she is traveling, the emperor decrees that all able men fifteen and older must join his army, which means serving for three years.  Decimus is sent to the border of the Roman empire to fight the barbarians.  Meanwhile, Splendora escapes and comes back to Rome ...only to hear false stories of her lover's death.  Her escorts recapture her and restart the journey.  She feels alone, but Decimus is not dead.  He runs away from the army and travels to Tertius' mansion to crash the wedding.  But will he even survive the journey?  And if he does, will he get there in time?


Person vs. Nature

   Dingo is a small prairie dog with a big name.  He is also an orphan.  His parents died in a fight with a pack of dingoes, yet miraculously, he somehow survived.  That is why Dingo was named dingo.  But that is not his only name.  All the other prairie dogs his age call him Harry Potter, due to the similarities in Harry and Dingo's stories.  Then it hits, a nasty famine, and the community pond runs dry.  Dingo sets off on a journey to find food with his only companion, a young burrowing owl named Elaine.  Soon though Elaine is captured by dingoes and young Dingo must meet a whole pack of the hideous dogs once again to rescue her.  But what if he can't?  Will he even find food at all?



Person vs. Self

   Cora has a problem.  She is a pessimistic girl living in downtown Chicago.  When  her parents buy her a puppy for her Birthday, she replies that it wasn’t the right breed.  When she receives a new dress for Christmas, she says that she likes Pink, not blue.  So when her parents sign her up as a volunteer at the local aquarium, Cora states that fish smell horrid.  A young blue whale befriends her and Cora starts to open up.  Unfortunately, the blue whale becomes sick and Cora starts to beat herself up.  What if it was her fault?  “I’ll never be a good volunteer…” She thinks.  Will Cora ever overcome her problem?
