Response

Response is a reaction to some outer stimulus.  Reflex, Instinct and Learned Response are unique types of responses.

Reflex
Reflex is an action that requires no thought.  Sneezing in a dusty room, your heart pumping faster when exercising and coughing when food goes down your windpipe are three common examples of reflex.

Instinct
Instinct is an in-born behavior.  For example, Migration in birds like the German Warbler and the Arctic Tern, Bees producing honey in cells inside their hive and a mother bear protecting her cubs.  These are done through instinct.

Learned Response

Learned Response is something that is taught.  Teaching your dog to perform tricks, building a LEGOÔ house or using manners when speaking are all great examples of Learned (or conditioned) Responses.

You can test any of the previous examples!  Try sprinting for five minutes straight and feel your heart beat faster or observe birds building a nest!
